Helix CMS Wins Bronze at the Building Better Healthcare Awards for Scunthorpe Community Diagnostic Centre

Helix CMS is proud to announce that the Scunthorpe Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), delivered in partnership with Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust and Alessandro Caruso Architects (ACA), has been awarded Bronze for CDC of the Year at the Building Better Healthcare Awards 2025.

The national awards celebrate innovation and excellence across the healthcare sector, recognising projects that have made outstanding contributions to improving healthcare environments, accessibility, and patient care.

This recognition marks the third award win for the Scunthorpe CDC. A purpose-built, sustainable facility that has transformed access to early diagnostics across Northern Lincolnshire.

A shared achievement built on collaboration

Delivered within a tight, landlocked site in Scunthorpe’s town centre, the £19.4 million facility required precision, agility, and partnership from every member of the delivery team.

From initial design through to handover, Helix CMS worked closely with Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, Alessandro Caruso Architects, and the wider project stakeholders to deliver a world-class facility that now enables over 146,000 additional NHS patient appointments per year.

The CDC houses MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, and blood testing services, all designed to improve accessibility and streamline patient pathways while supporting the NHS’s long-term diagnostic capacity and resilience.

Phil Jessop, Operations Director at Helix CMS, said:

“This project was always about collaboration. Bringing together people and expertise to deliver a facility that truly makes a difference. We’re proud to have worked alongside the Trust, ACA, and our wider delivery partners to create a space that’s not only high-performing and sustainable but genuinely improves the lives of patients and staff.”

Celebrating excellence in healthcare construction

The event, held at The Brewery in London, brought together leaders from across healthcare design and construction to celebrate best practice and innovation in the sector.

Mark Pearson, Construction Director at Helix CMS, added:

“To see Scunthorpe CDC recognised at a national level is a proud moment for everyone involved. It’s a reflection of the hard work, commitment, and care that went into every stage of delivery, from planning and design to construction and handover.”

Alessandro Caruso, shared:

“It was a fantastic event that recognised some truly inspiring work across healthcare. Winning Bronze for Scunthorpe CDC was an unexpected but very proud moment for our team and for everyone involved.”
