Community Diagnostic Centre wins Project of the Year

Helix CMS is proud to have been named GOLD Winner for Project of the Year (£10m–£25m) at the National Building and Construction Awards 2025, recognising the delivery of the £19.4m Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Scunthorpe.

This prestigious award celebrates Helix’s commitment to excellence, collaboration, and innovation in healthcare construction - these values sit at the heart of everything we do.

A Landmark for Healthcare in the Humber Region

The Community Diagnostic Centre, delivered for Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, is a 2,000sqm, purpose-built facility designed to transform access to early diagnostics across Northern Lincolnshire.

The two-storey development provides state-of-the-art MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, and phlebotomy services, enabling 146,000 additional NHS appointments per year. The CDC supports faster diagnosis, reduces hospital pressures, and enhances the overall patient journey - improving healthcare accessibility for thousands.

A Project Built on Partnership

This award is a reflection of the shared vision and collaborative effort between Helix CMS, Alessandro Caruso Architects (ACA), the NHS Trust, and our wider supply chain. From early engagement through to delivery, we worked as one integrated team, navigating a landlocked site and complex logistics to achieve BREEAM Excellent standards without disrupting the surrounding community.

Innovation and Impact

Built using a hybrid modern method of construction and offsite prefabricated steel frame system, the CDC was completed with precision, speed, and minimal waste. Helix leveraged digital tools like Procore for real-time coordination and transparent reporting, ensuring seamless communication between teams and stakeholders throughout the build.

Recognition of Excellence

The Community Diagnostic Centre has already earned global recognition, winning a World Design Award in 2023 for its outstanding design and innovation. This new national GOLD award cements its place as a benchmark for future-focused, patient-first healthcare facilities and a defining achievement for Helix CMS.

Building the Future, Together

For Helix, this win represents more than just a trophy, it’s a celebration of the partnerships, people, and purpose behind every project.

As a main contractor and construction management specialist, we remain committed to building sustainable, high-performing, and community-focused facilities that enhance lives across the Humber region and beyond.

This win highlights Helix CMS’s growing reputation as a trusted regional contractor and collaborative delivery partner, known for turning complex multi-sector briefs into community-enhancing developments.
